Ananta Basudeva Temple
"Located near the sacred Bindusagar tank, the Ananta Basudeba Temple is one of the most prominent Vaishnavite shrines in Bhubaneswar. Built in the 13th century CE by Queen Chandrika Devi of the Eastern Ganga dynasty, the temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu in his forms of Ananta (Balabhadra) and Basudeba (Jagannatha), with Goddess Ekanamsa (Subhadra) placed between them.
The temple complex exemplifies the fully evolved Kalinga architectural style, comprising four principal structures the towering Deula (sanctum), Jagamohana (assembly hall), Nata-Mandapa (dance pavilion) and Bhoga Mandapa (offering hall). The Nata-Mandapa once hosted ritual performances, while the Bhoga Mandapa continues to be associated with sacred offerings. The temple is also renowned for its traditional Odia cuisine served as Abadha, embodying the inclusive belief that the Lord’s food is shared by all devotees."
