Bhitarkanika National Park
In the coastal delta of Odisha Bhitarkanika National Park unfolds as one of India’s most remarkable wetland ecosystems a vast labyrinth of tidal creeks, estuaries and dense mangrove forests nourished by the Brahmani, Baitarani and Dhamra rivers before they meet the Bay of Bengal. Often called India’s “mini-Amazon”, this untamed landscape is best explored by boat where silent waterways reveal basking saltwater crocodiles the largest population in the country alongside water monitors, spotted deer and an extraordinary diversity of resident and migratory birds, including multiple species of kingfishers. Designated a Ramsar Site for its global ecological importance, Bhitarkanika offers a rare, immersive encounter with nature shaped by tides and time where every journey through its creeks is a study in balance, wilderness and quiet discovery.
