Raghunath Jew Temple
"Located at Odagaon in Nayagada district, Raghunath Jew Temple is one of the most revered centres of Lord Rama worship in eastern India. Unlike most Rama temples where the deities are adorned in royal attire, the idols here depict Lord Rama, Sita and Laxman in their Vanavasi (forest exile) form. Lord Rama and Laxman are represented with beards and moustaches, making the iconography a rare representation in Odisha.
The beautifully crafted neem wood idols reflect the temple’s deep artistic and spiritual significance. Its grand architecture, resembling a royal palace rather than a conventional shrine, further distinguishes the temple. Crowned by three pure gold kalasas, the structure combines religious significance with distinctive architectural grandeur.
Raghunath Jew Temple is an important pilgrimage destination, particularly during Rama Navami, when thousands of devotees gather to celebrate the life and teachings of Lord Rama. Visitors are drawn to the temple not only for its spiritual atmosphere but also for its rare Vanavasi representation, distinctive iconography and impressive architecture, making it an important religious and heritage attraction of Nayagada."
